Radgie

A Geordie word, strongest in and around Newcastle, for someone quick to anger, "gannin' radgie" being to properly lose your temper. Both "radge" and "radgie" derive straightforwardly from "rage," recorded in print since at least the mid-1800s, though almost certainly spoken locally well before that was ever written down. An 1894 glossary of Northumberland dialect words records an older, now obsolete sense of the word meaning "lewd" or "wanton," showing the meaning has drifted over time even while the "rage" root itself stayed constant.
