Toilets Flush in Opposite Directions in Each Hemisphere
"The claim that the Coriolis effect makes water swirl clockwise down drains in the Southern Hemisphere and counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere."
The Coriolis effect is real, and it genuinely does shape the rotation of huge systems like hurricanes, spinning them counterclockwise north of the equator and clockwise south of it. The problem is scale: a toilet bowl or bathroom sink is far too small, and the water drains far too quickly, for a force that weak to have any measurable influence on which way it swirls. In reality, the direction water spins down a drain is almost entirely determined by the shape of the basin and the angle at which water is jetted into it when it's flushed or filled, not which hemisphere it's in. Both clockwise and counterclockwise drains can be found in either hemisphere, and the "proof" demonstrations sometimes staged for tourists at the equator are rigged rather than genuine.
